African Tulip tree (Spathodea campanulata).

Also known as Flame of the forest, Fountain tree, Fireball, Afrikanischer Tulpenbaum, Scarlet Bell, Squirt Tree.

The flowers catch one's attention from a distance. This tree was introduced in India during the late 19th century from equatorial Africa. The flowers are large, orange-red in colour. The pods are pointed at the end and are aprroximately 25 cms in length. Interestingly this tree seems to have been taken to many parts of the globe including Singapore and Suriname.

(I could obtain information on this tree from Pradip Krishen's Trees Of Delhi  and from the internet.)
